Solar does not produce air pollution, water pollution and dose not create greenhouse gases. They can impact environment because when they are made they use toxic materials. They also clear land space to build solar factories and to build solar farms and leave animals without a habitat or reduced.

Who uses this energy source?

Families, commercials, industrial factories and office buildings

Why might they use this energy source?

To heat water because they live in distant places

Plus | Minus | Interesting |

It is renewable and it will not run out.
It is a good source of power for people who live in different places. It’s cheap to run. |
Toxic products are used to make them.
They clear habitats to make solar farms. Clearing habitats has an impact on animals. |
They do not make greenhouse gases.
Solar energy is completely free. Germany is the highest user of solar energy. |

16

__

+51

_________

96

Predict: I predict that I will need to do addition in this sum

Clarify: I have no words, sentences or phrases to clarify.

Find the big question: What are the missing digits?

Solve:

Well, 6+1 cant equal 6, so it has to equal 16.

6+1=7. 7+?=16? 9.

So we write down 9 and carry the one.

Now, 1+ the carried 1= 2. So, 2+5= 7, but 7+?=9? 2.

The answer is

16+29+51= 96.

Predict: I predict that I will use subtraction in this problem.

Clarify: nothing to be clarified

Find the big question: What was the original number?

Solve:

Since I have to reverse the process, because I have to find the original number, we will reverse the operations too.

The equation that they did was: __ / 2 + 12 = 20. But since we are reversing it we are doing subtraction and multiplication, because they are the opposite operation.

The equation that w are doing is: 20 – 12 x 2 = 16.

The answer is 16.

Problem 22: The sum of four consecutive numbers is 94. What are the four numbers??

Clarify: nothing to be clarified

Find the big question: What are the four numbers?

Solve:

I was very confused about how to solve this problem, but I worked out that I was over thinking it.

First I divided 94 by 4 which equals 23.5

That means that 23.5 is the middle number in the sum, because of the .5.

So at first I didn’t realize that 23.5 had to be the middle number so I did 21+22+23+24, but that made 90.

So that means the 23 has to go in the middle, so I chose 22+23+24+25=94!

The answer is 22,23,24 and 25.

Summary: The mathematicians toolbox strategy I used in this sum was work backwards.
